What a party!

Each night before the boys go to bed, Ben reads a chapter from the series Fablehaven. They are on book 2 and the boys love it. They get pretty disappointed on the nights that Ben is at meetings and they are unable to find out what will happen next. I just love to see the boys excited about books and I love it even more when Ben reads- if only I could get him to read twilight! (Ben if you read this - be a man - like Mark;), and read THEM!) So a few weeks ago I found out about the book #4 launch party in Salt Lake and the boys have not stopped reminding me when it all takes place. Well yesterday was the day-book 4 was released. Which I so nicely picked up (originally for Ethans birthday) while on my errands at walmart and the launch party and book signing were later that night. The boys were so excited. While Ben and Owen went to a young mens activity(which he ended not having to go -Ben was sad to miss the fun!), the rest of us headed to the party with book 4 in tow. We grabbed dinner at the mcdonalds drive thru and made it just in time. What a fun and -free!- activity. They had people dressed up as characters from the book, and t shirts, books, and fairy dressups for sale. They had singing and comedy, and the kids really liked when they threw glow sticks out to the crowd. It was lots of fun. We found out book 5 comes out next year and possibly a movie and a sequel to the candy shop wars -Ethan was excited about that. The only bummer was that we didn't get our books signed (I bought #3 while at the party) because it was a little unorganized and way crowded so they boys will head to costco on saturday where Brandon Mull is doing a signing-Thank goodness or the boys would have never agreed to leave last night. Icecream on the way home and in bed by 9:30 and I'm pretty sure I was asleep on the couch by 10- Luckily work was slow the night before or we would have never made it to the party. All in all a fun night and we look forward to next years launch party.

I guess blowing on the knot frees her? I'm not sure I need to start reading the series.

Kiss me I'm irish!

So my idea for and authentic irish dinner didn't turn out as great as I wanted. It's amazing how ideas sound so good until after a busy night at work. I was exhausted and not too enthused to be cooking anything, but each year Ben tells the kids about our ancestors and every year I have the idea to introduce them to what their ancestors may have eaten. Let me just say if you ever try this make sure you like the food first or there is now way your kids will like it! I know this first hand now. I think the face I made after the first bite of cabbage was a hint to the kids how the meal was going to end. The kids ate everything except the cabbage! I think next year I'll go back to just a yummy green dinner. How can you go wrong with lime jello and limeade and green colored mashed potatoes etc.?

I'm so vain...Happy Birthday!

So Ben likes to give me a hard time when certain things happen around our house and he says "Get the camera, this would be good to blog about" Like he's the one doing the blogging!? :) Anyways last week was my wonderful husbands birthday and the day after I jokingly asked him if he was blog worthy- well of course he is -just a week late! So happy birthday cute husband! This year Ben had a birthday week- starting with new hotwheels, new unmentionables(bought at the distribution center-wink wink), dinner out with yours truly (moms gift to Ben -a free babysitter- thanks mom!) and afterwards a trip to cal ranch to FINALLY get a belt for that cool belt buckle he got for Christmas. Ben is now the same age as me for the next 2 months yeah! I don't feel as old! This picture of Ben is his I'm so vain pose-at least this is what I've started calling it. At some point a couple weeks ago we needed a picture of Ben for something and he said Ohhh use that picture with me holding Owen in the hospital- looking through our pictures this has become unknowingly his pose- very cute I must say and I can't help teasing him about being particular about which pictures I post of him. So hopefully this picture passes his expectation. Love You! and I hope you had a wonderful birthday!
